Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Thank you so much for your congratulations on my passing the bar exam. It was such a huge relief!
Besides a race and a strength class, I wasn't up to much this weekend. I spent Sunday afternoon volunteering at the NYC Marathon, handing out sponges and cheering on the runners. It was so great to see some of my incredible friends rocking the race!! I am hoping they all write race recaps so I can live through each mile with them (and link you all to their inspiring stories!).
It is really and truly heartening to watch and volunteer at a marathon. I saw so many smiles, heard so many thank you's. Since I just raced my first marathon three weeks ago, it was wonderful to see the experience from the volunteer side, and I hope I was able to help as much as Chicago's volunteers helped me!
Weekly Workout Recap
Here were my goals from last week:
- 2 runs (3-5 miles each) -- got in one run, but not the second
1 race (Race to the Finish Line 5K that runs through the NYCM finish line!)2 strength workouts1 yoga class
Monday: 3 mile data-free run.
Central Park is gorgeous right now, and I felt so strong on this hill-filled run down the west side of Central Park then back up. I kind of love running early in the morning now... who am I? I know that'll change once the temperatures dip to the 30s!
Tuesday: 60 minute yoga class.
My body loves yoga right now. Trying to get to at least one class a week, if not more. Didn't like this particular class -- there was no savasana! -- but unless it's a terrible class, I always enjoy some yoga.
Wednesday: Rest day.
Unless you count screaming loudly for the Knicks to be a workout.
Thursday: 50 minute private pilates class.
Forgot to take a picture because it was 7 AM and I'd been up until 1 AM because of bar results excitement. I recently joined Equinox because my firm offers a fantastic subsidy, and the gym gives you a private pilates session when you join. I enjoyed using the various reformer machines, but unfortunately I think that the price is a bit steep for me to make it a part of my regular fitness regime.
Friday: Rest day.
Saturday: 5.1 mile run (including Race to the Finish Line 5K)
At the start line with the lovely Gianna, who just ran her third marathon yesterday! |
Sunday: 55 minute Uplifting STRONG class
My office mate (and friend) Hana and I planned on taking this class together -- we did not plan on coordinating outfits, however! That one was pure "great minds thinking alike."
This Week's Goal Workouts:
I want to see where my fitness is at, running-wise, so this week, I'm hoping for an easy 3 miler, a fast 5 miler, and a "long" run of 8-10 miles on the weekend. We'll see if that's possible with work!
• 3 runs
• 2 strength workouts
• 2 yoga classes
In addition, sleeping early when I can is going to be a priority. I have the feeling that this week will be very busy work-wise, so I need to make sure I sleep when I have the opportunity!
How was your weekend? Have you ever volunteered at a race? Did you run the NYC Marathon?? If so, you rock and congrats!!!
I'm with you on the yoga and Pilates--cannot get enough lately! Wasn't the NYCM so much fun? I can totally see why people would watch and then sign up for a 26.2 of their own. ;)
ReplyDeleteSO much fun seeing you Saturday and I was TOTALLY stalking you Sunday and on the look out - so happy I found you :)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for being a volunteer, you all rock and did an amazing job!
I'm bummed I missed seeing you at Dash to the Finish Line! I'm looking forward to getting in a ton of yoga myself after this weekend's half marathon.
